The game changed, and then he changed the game

There were no three-pointers in college basketball until Reggie Miller’s final year at UCLA. That season, he hit a game-winning three with 10 seconds left against Notre Dame. The shot reignited an old rivalry and foretold Miller’s future NBA career as an ire inspirer and a clutch shooter who was dangerous from downtown. He was drafted in the first round in 1987 by the Indiana Pacers, for whom he played his entire 18-season professional career. While there, he famously scored eight points in 8.9 seconds to steal a playoff game away from the New York Knicks, among other feats. He retired with the most three-pointers in NBA history and was later inducted into the Naismith Basketball Memorial Hall of Fame. Today, he remains a presence in the game as an NBA commentator.
